Holger (“we”, “us”) is a voice assistant for macOS and iPhone, operated by Tobias Geertsen, Denmark. This policy explains what we collect and how it’s used. We aim to collect as little as possible.
On macOS, the “Hey Holger” wake word runs entirely on your Mac. No audio leaves your device for wake‑word detection - only when you actively use a command.
The optional Holger keyboard asks for “Full Access” only so it can (1) insert your dictated text into the app you’re typing in and (2) reach the internet to transcribe what you record. The keyboard does not log, store, or transmit what you type on it - there is no keystroke logging and no typing analytics. Audio is captured only while you actively use the dictation button, sent to our transcription provider to turn it into text, and is not retained on our servers. Your recent dictation results are stored locally on your device (in Holger’s private app group) so you can re‑insert them; they never leave your device except as part of a transcription you start yourself.
To transcribe speech and answer requests, we send the relevant audio, text, or screenshot to trusted AI providers (currently OpenAI and Anthropic) through our servers. Under their API terms, this data is not used to train their models. We do not sell your data to anyone.
We keep account and usage metadata for as long as your account is active. You can request access to or deletion of your data at any time by emailing us. If you’re in the EU/EEA, you have rights under the GDPR.
